Pastor John & Kathy Friedlund have been serving in pastoral ministry with the Evangelical Congregational Church since 1985. They each hold degrees in Education from Clarion University of PA, and John has a Master of Divinity from Evangelical Theological Seminary. They have 4 adult children as well as 6 grandchildren.
The Friedlunds enjoy a great variety of sports and activities and the out-of-doors in general. Kathy and John take pleasure in hiking and biking in picturesque areas, gardening and farming, and books and movies.
“As a couple in pastoral ministry, our passion in life is to help others see that by His Grace, Jesus Christ can take our brokenness and turn it into beauty and strength. Our walk with God begins at home in marriage and family life and then overflows into the church, the community and the world. We think of missions at home and abroad as part of our daily lives.”
John is motivated by the challenges of leadership as well as helping people see the refreshing relevance of the Bible in daily life. John also has a real heart for men, both those who follow Christ and those who are still deciding. Kathy especially enjoys mentoring and leading other women in the journey of life and faith.

His greatest passions are leadership, communication (written and oral), and helping others grow in various areas of life and faith. His greatest purpose is glorifying God while enjoying the roles of husband, father, pastor, and friend, taking pleasure in blessing and encouraging others.
Michael has served in various ministry roles in a variety of places and settings, has lived in several states and countries, and has served on multiple continents for various lengths of time - from a couple weeks to several years. He has pastored churches in Ohio and Canada and served as an Army Chaplain. Upon being medically retired, Michael and his family settled in Western Pennsylvania and, in October 2022, was called to serve as the Associate Pastor for Discipleship at Grace Church.
Michael and Christy, his beloved bride of twenty-six years, have four adult children: Emma Grace, Noah, Micah, and Elijah. Christy is an amazing woman whose greatest passion is worship. Her greatest purpose is loving and serving her family well. Her greatest pleasure is using her gifts and interests to glorify and honor Christ, whether leading women’s Bible studies, practicing hospitality, or baking bread and propagating plants.
