Jennifer Runyan - Church Secretary
Jennifer Runyan is a PK (preacher’s kids) and coal miner’s daughter from the Appalachian Mountains of southern West Virginia. Being raised in the parsonage, she had a bird’s eye view of the interworking of congregational care and church administration. She often says that her whole life has prepared her for the position of church secretary.
She met her husband, Don, at her father’s church in eastern North Carolina, while he was serving in the 82nd Airborne at Ft. Bragg. Being married to a soldier, she’s learned how to be an independent wife and mother of the 3 children God chose to put in their care. Often times left to tend the household alone while her husband was serving our country, Jennifer learned how to rely on God to help her with tasks and emergencies of which she had no training or experience. She is grateful for the Holy Spirit and his willingness to work in and through us as we learn to trust Him.
As a PK and military wife, moving was a way of life for Jennifer and through that she learned flexibility and how to trust God to work out the details of the unknown path, for there were many. She was unable to finish college due to financial restraints, and yet, the Lord has made a way for her in every area of her life to be successful in learning new aspects of administration of which she has no formal education. God is good and will equip those he calls to accomplish the works of righteousness he has prepared for them in advance.
Her future goals include one day returning to the south and no longer having to deal with the snow, except in pictures and memories. She is excited about the possibility of a wardrobe of no winter coats, but mostly tank tops, sandals and shorts. She hopes to one day have to invest in sunscreen stock.
She has served the Grace EC Congregation since October 1, 2004.
